history

Mlaka - Halmosfö 1906

The name Gorica appears for the first time in 1365 as Guricha and finally in 1366 as Goricha in dystrictu Sancti Martini (Goricha in the parish of St. Martin Martjanci). Sources mention the village as early as 1500, i.e. during the Reformation, when the majority of the population was Protestant. Today Catholics , Lutherans and Pentecostals live in the village . In 1698 Goricza had 70 residents.

It is believed that the name of the village was originally derived from the surrounding vineyards .

Source in place

There is a natural spring of water in the center of the village. From here the water was led through wooden pipes to the castle in Murska Sobota. The photograph shows the concrete version of a spring. Above the pipe is written in Hungarian : Halmosfö 1906, translation: Gorica 1906.
