Nothomorph

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Nothomorph , abbreviated nm. , Were designated in the botanical nomenclature any kind of hybrid forms , both primary, offspring or backcrossing. The term was coined by Ronald Melville in 1939 and incorporated into the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature in 1952 . It acted as a rank that included all types below the Nothospecies .

With the Sydney Code 1983 the concept of an "all-encompassing" infraspecific rank was replaced. Since then, the normal infraspecific ranks have been used below the nothospecies, i.e. subspecies , variety , shape, etc. Taxa described as nothomorph are now considered a variety.
