The Notrim (Aramaean נוטרים "The Guardians") was a Jewish police force under the League of Nations mandate for Palestine .

After the outbreak of the Arab uprising in April 1936, the British Mandate authorities realized that they could not protect the Jewish settlements. Therefore they founded the Notrim, which was trained, armed and paid by the English.

The Notrim was divided into two departments, the Jewish Supernumerary Police and the very mobile Jewish Settlement Police . Members of this police force were mainly recruited from the Hagana .

After the Second World War , the Notrim formed the heart of the newly established Israeli Military Police .
