Nouroog is a jazz composition by Charles Mingus .

The title

Sue Graham Mingus , Charles Mingus' widow, told jazz critic Nat Hentoff that Mingus dedicated the piece of music to a friend of Duke Ellington's . In 1957, his band first recorded the piece on the Bethlehem album A Modern Jazz Symposium Of Music And Poetry .

In 1962 Mingus recorded "Nouroog" again under the title "Duke's Choice (Don't Come Back)" in the Town Hall Concert (published in 1962 by United Artists ). It was re-recorded as "Noon Night" on the album The Next Generation Performs Charles Mingus - Brand New Compositions (Columbia / Sony, 1991) by Jack Walrath's Mingus Dynasty .
