Nové Deypalan

Nové Deypalan (born November 8, 1966 in Victorias City ) is a Filipino conductor and composer.

Deypalan took piano lessons as a child and began his musical education at the University of Philippines Music College , where Ryan Cayabyab was his mentor. During this time he conducted at the Cultural Center of the Philippines ( Sentrong Pangkultura ng Pilipinas ) and performed his own compositions such as Kagat sa Mansanas and Florante at Laura . Deypalan received a bachelor's degree from Chapman University and a master's degree in conducting from the University of Southern California , followed by a doctoral degree at the University of South Carolina . His teachers included Larry Livingston , Jane Hardester , Patrick Goeser , Donald Brinegar , John Farrer and Donald Portnoy .

Deypalan worked with John Rutter as a choir conductor at Carnegie Hall and in the Vatican before Pope John Paul II. In 2008 he conducted the world premiere of his own composition Libera Me for baritone, choir and orchestra at Pasadena City College . On his conducting debut at Carnegie Hall, Deypalan performed Dream of a Hundred Flowers by Chinese composer Fang Man .
