Novesia, old packaging

Novesia is a former manufacturer of cocoa and chocolate products in Neuss , so the company name alludes to the Roman name of the city. The pharmacist Jonathan Feldhaus first made chocolate in 1815 . The Novesia company was founded in 1860 by his descendant Peter Ferdinand Feldhaus; the factories in Neuss existed until 1980 and were located on Stresemannallee and Jülich Landstrasse, where Maoam is now produced.

The best- known Novesia products were Novesia Goldnuss-Pärchen (two hazelnuts wrapped in chocolate and arranged in a golden basket made of coated paper with a green handle) and Novesia Gold-Nuss (a 100-gram chocolate bar with whole hazelnuts). A special feature of the Novesia Gold-Nut is the large viewing window made of cellophane paper, through which the customer can see all the hazelnuts. At times the product was advertised with the “ Guarantee 27” that it contained at least 27 nuts. If this was not the case, chocolate and postage were replaced in kind.

Trumpf Chocolate continues to use the name Novesia for its Trumpf Novesia Gold-Nut and Trumpf Novesia Gold-Almond products .
