Now I Know is a song by Harold Arlen (music) and Ted Koehler (lyrics) released in 1944.

Arlen and Koehler wrote "Now I Know" for the film Up in Arms (1944, directed by Elliott Nugent ), with Danny Kaye and Dinah Shore in the lead roles. Dinah Shore introduces the song in the film. The song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song in 1945 .

In the song, the singer says that she has been confused so far and that "the outlook on life is not clear", but "suddenly the fog seems to clear" and she now knows in which direction to go.

Dinah Shore released the song on Victor Records (20-1562), coupled with I Couldn't Sleep a Wink Last Night . As early as 1944, numerous cover versions of the song in the field of swing were made, including a. by Harry James , Cootie Williams (with vocalist Pearl Bailey ), Glenn Miller , Charlie Spivak , Lionel Hampton , Duke Ellington and Ray McKinley . Now I Know was later recorded by Frank D'Rone and Rusty Dedrick (LP: Harold Arlen in Hollywood , 1969).
