Numbers is a spreadsheet program from Apple . It was presented on August 7, 2007 and complements the iWork suite, which also contains the programs Pages ( word processing ) and Keynote (presentation program). It has also been available for the iPad since 2010 and for the iPhone and iPod touch since 2011 .

In contrast to Microsoft Excel , Numbers does not work with a single, large table, but can display several independent tables, diagrams or images on a "canvas" next to one another.

Numbers can convert documents to .xls format so that they can also be opened with Excel. It is also possible to open Excel tables with Numbers to a limited extent. This works with simple Excel tables; Due to the limited functionality of Numbers, there are error messages with complex Excel functions. Conversions to PDF and CSV formats are also possible.
