The Alkatiri family are the descendants of Arab immigrants from whom Hadramaut came to Timor in the 19th century. Only Aini is the daughter of Djafar Alkatiri and the niece of the former Prime Minister Marí Bin Amude Alkatiri .
Career
Alkatiri was Deputy General Manager for Payments at the Authority for Banking and Payments ( Portuguese Autoridade Bancária e de Pagamentos ABP , English Bank Payment Authority BPA). This was converted into the Central Bank of East Timor in 2011 . Alkatiri became Head of the Department of Banking and Payments and on November 7, 2012, Deputy Governor for the supervision of the banking system (status: 2019).
