Nuvola

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nuvola (from Italian Nuvola 'cloud'), a further development of the SKY theme, is a set of free icons by David Vignoni under version 2.1 of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). Although it was originally designed for the K Desktop Environment (KDE), there are packages for Windows and Mac OS X as well . The final version 1.0 released in October 2004 contains around 600 icons in Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format , but most of them are also available as Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).

The icons, mostly colorful, contain common and easily recognizable objects that can easily be associated with the associated applications. The dominant color is blue, but there are also icons that have a completely different color scheme.

The icons were drawn with Adobe Illustrator between 2003 and 2004 and exported in SVG format.

use

KDE 3.x and older versions of Gnome as well as programs such as Pidgin and the media player Amarok use Nuvola. The current KDE version, KDE Software Compilation 4 , uses the Oxygen icon set and the current GMOME version uses icons from the Tango Desktop Project .

The Nuvola icons are also used in Wikipedia because of their appearance that matches the monobook skin.
