Nyang'oma Kogelo is a town of about 3,600 in Siaya County in Kenya . The city became known as the birthplace of Barack Obama, Sr. , the father of the 44th President of the United States , Barack Obama . The city experienced a boom in the course of the presidential candidacy and the subsequent election of Obama. The city was connected to the electricity grid a few days after Obama's successful candidacy.

Infrastructure

Nyang'oma Kogelo has a primary school ( Senator Obama Primary School ) and a secondary school ( Senator Obama High School ). There is a health center and a police station since 2008.
