Kill the Kilians (German: Kill the Kilians ) is the debut album by the German indie rock band Kilians and was released in 2007 by Vertigo Berlin ( Universal ).

Emergence

The Kilians had already recorded an EP in 2005. In 2006 the song "Jealous Lover" included on it was able to place itself in the campus charts , a short time later Thees Uhlmann noticed the group and took over the management. After the group was able to sell over 700 copies of their first EP as the opening act for Tomte , a tour of Germany sponsored by Red Bull followed . At the beginning of 2007 the EP Fight the Start was released by Vertigo Berlin.

The recordings for Kill the Kilians dragged on for over a year, and on September 7, 2007 the album was released by Universal. Previously, the band had gained additional fame through appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park .

The reviews for Kill the Kilians have been mostly positive.

Laut.de gave the album five out of five possible points. In her review, Martina Kellner wrote: "[The album] is bursting with hit quality, almost screams for hysteria and hype!" Although Strokes borrowings cannot be dismissed, the arrangements are too complex for the band to suggest on their own to reduce.

In his review for the music magazine Visions , Oliver Uschmann praised the record's “thick, smoke-filled, soulful atmosphere”. This is varied and versatile , also due to the various influences of bands like Mando Diao , Oasis or Velvet Underground .

Kill the Kilians was also placed in the German album charts for a week .

The German rapper Cro used a sample from Fight the Start in 2011 for his single Once Around the World .
