They Are Calling Your Name (German: call your name ) is the second studio album by German indie rock band Kilian and appeared in 2009 at Vertigo Berlin ( Universal ). Compared to the debut Kill the Kilians , the album is characterized by a more differentiated soundscape.

Emergence

Immediately after the release of the debut album, Simon den Hartog began again with the songwriting. In an interview he said that there was no concept, rather all titles were created spontaneously. The band was also not influenced by the euphoria at their concerts.

According to their own statement, the band had considerably more time for the recordings, so that they could deal more intensively with the material. The band was also able to participate more in the production, which Swen Meyer took over as on the previous album. The final mastering was done by Michael Schwabe .

The title of the album comes from the title "12 Boxes".

They Are Calling Your Name was seen in reviews as a positive development and was also commercially successful.

The music magazine Visions praised that the songs were “clearer” and “more thought-out” than those of the debut album. Nevertheless, the band remains true to their style and confirms their quality and success. Particularly noteworthy is the “balanced guitar work” by Arne Schult and Dominic Lorberg as well as the vocals by Simon den Hartog, “who has gained a lot in coolness, sovereignty and casual persuasiveness”.

In the intro , Sandra Brosi wrote that the band sounded “too focused, too retro and therefore almost too hip” to continue to score with “provincial power”. They Are Calling Your Name is, even if it lacks the charm of its predecessor in places, nevertheless a “coherent development”.

Both the album itself and the first single, Said & Done , made it into the German album and single charts .
