Nyazura

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nyazura , also Nyazure, formerly Inyazura, is a 1,200 m high place with about 2,000 inhabitants (2006) and a district in the province of Manicaland in Zimbabwe on the road and railway line from Marondera to Mutare .

Nyazura is located in an agricultural area and has been a focus of arbitrary land grabbing on several occasions since the land reform. The yields have been falling continuously since then. Tobacco and grain are particularly affected. In addition to agriculture, there is the mining of phosphate a little southeast in Dorowa, which is shipped to the National Railways of Zimbabwe in Nyazura . Otherwise there are only the usual retail shops here. Nyazura cannot compete with Marondera or Mutare.

Nyazura is the administrative and economic center of the surrounding area. It has an airstrip, elementary and secondary schools, one of the latter with boarding schools, as well as a college and hospital.
