The nymph dwarf perch ( Pictichromis paccagnellae , syn .: Pseudochromis paccagnellae ) is a five to seven centimeter small representative of the dwarf perch (Pseudochromidae).

It lives in the coral reefs of the Philippines , Indonesia , the Solomon Islands , New Caledonia and the Great Barrier Reef . They are always very hidden in their biotope in the caves and crevices of the reef rock. Nymph dwarf bass feed on small crustaceans .

Aquarium keeping

With its striking colors, the nymph dwarf perch is a very attractive fish for the saltwater aquarium . The aquarium should have many hiding spots. The nymph dwarf perch should always be kept in pairs.

The big disadvantage is its aggressiveness, which is not only directed against other fish, also larger ones, but also against shrimp. Under no circumstances should it be kept with the king fairy perch ( Gramma loreto ), which incites the nymph dwarf perch to particularly strong aggression because of the same color pattern. The relative from the Caribbean is inferior to the little bass and is sure to kill him. One can distinguish both species by the fact that the body color of the king fairy bass extends to the fins, while the fins of the nymph dwarf bass are transparent.
