OPTSAT-3000 is a military earth observation satellite owned by the Italian Ministry of Defense . The mission is also called SHALOM (Spaceborne Hyperspectral Applicative Land and Ocean Mission).
On August 2, 2017, at 1:58:33 UTC, it was brought into sun-synchronous orbit with a Vega launcher from the rocket launch site in Kourou (together with Ven ) s ).
The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with a multispectral camera called Jupiter with a 70 cm primary mirror and is intended to deliver surveillance images from space with a resolution of 2 m multispectral and 0.5 m panchromatic and a swath width of 15 km. It was built on the basis of the satellite bus of the same name (a further development of the IMPS Improved Multi Purpose Satellite and the TecSAR Platform) by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and has a planned service life of at least six years. The total order value of the OPTSAT-3000, which was ordered from Telespazio in mid-2012, is US $ 182 million and includes the manufacture of the satellite and the ground segment for the operation of the spacecraft and the launch. IAI commissioned Elbit Systems Electro-Optics (Elop) for 40 million US dollars with the optical payload and the Italian company Compagnia Generale per lo Spazio (CGS) for the commissioning of the satellite launch.
