The Evonik OXENO GmbH was on 1 January 1998 as OXENO olefin chemistry GmbH founded and is a 100% subsidiary of Evonik Industries AG .

At the main location in Marl , Oxeno mainly produces 1,3-butadiene , 1-butene , ETBE , isononanol and the plasticizer diisononyl phthalate (DINP). Oxeno converts the C4 cut (a mixture of butadiene, butenes and butanes) from cracking processes to the above products and thus achieves full utilization of the hydrocarbons present in this cut.

Oxeno's main market is Europe , followed by Asia .

With sales of almost 1.9 million tons per year (2005), sales of around 1,160 million euros and around 490 employees, OXENO is the largest chemical producer in the Marl Chemical Park .
