Oana Petrovschi

Oana Petrovschi (born February 5, 1986 in Bârlad ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

When Petrovschi was one year old, her family moved to the Banat, where she started gymnastics at the age of seven. In 2000 Petrovschi was a substitute gymnast for the Junior European Championships in Paris, but was not used.

2002 was Petrovschi's most successful year. At the European Gymnastics Championships in 2002 in Patras, Greece, she won the bronze medal in the horse jump behind the Russian Natalia Sigantschina and the Dutch Verona van de Leur . In addition, she reached fifth place in the all-around competition.

At the Gymnastics World Championships in Debrecen (Hungary) in 2002, Petrovschi was runner-up on the uneven bars behind the American Ashley Postell . In addition, she reached the final in floor exercise, in which she was fourth.

Due to injury, Petrovschi ended her career in 2003. In 2005 she sued her former coaches for abuse in training, but then withdrew the lawsuit. Petrovschi later emigrated to Canada. She is married to a US citizen and works as a trainer.
