Upper linden tree on the upper valley meadow
The upper linden tree on the upper valley meadow near Hildrizhausen (Böblingen district) is a solitary tree at the age of over 400 years and a designated natural monument . Its location is in the catchment area of the river Würm , about 1.5 km north of the outskirts of the Schönbuch nature park .
description
The tree has nine crown branches spread out like a tentacle. They arise already two meters above the ground from a very massive earth trunk covered with numerous thick growths.
The crown itself is well preserved in terms of the completely unprotected, open location: Storm damage can only be observed sporadically and the branches of the main axes are relatively fine up to the tips. Despite some trimmed stems, the crown diameter is more than 20 meters, the crown height is slightly less.
A wooden round bench surrounds the 6.75 meter trunk.
