Upper Rodach Valley

The Obere Rodachtal is a region in the east of the Upper Franconian district of Kronach . The town of Wallenfels and the Steinwiesen and Nordhalben markets have merged to form the "Upper Rodachtal" region .

The largest single town is Wallenfels with around 2,100 inhabitants. The largest municipality, however, is the Steinwiesen market with a total of 3,425 inhabitants (Wallenfels: 2,645, Nordhalben: 1,637). As of March 31, 2019, 7,707 people lived in the entire region. In the medium term, the aim is to merge the three municipalities to form the "Upper Rodachtal municipality".

The cooperation is strongest in the field of tourism through the joint tourism association Oberes Rodachtal . The joint tourist information center in Steinwiesen coordinates the cooperation in the field of tourism. The biggest attractions are rafting in Wallenfels and the Rodachtalbahn between Steinwiesen and Nordhalben. The joint middle school based in Steinwiesen is also called "Middle School Oberes Rodachtal".
