Oberhausen group

Oberhausen Group is the name given to the 26 signatories of the Oberhausen Manifesto , which was read by Ferdinand Khittl on February 28, 1962 on the occasion of the “ 8th West German Short Film Festival ” in Oberhausen .

It was an action of the group DOC 59 from Munich, who is more like-minded people, mainly in the field Short successful directors had joined. The signatories of the manifesto were in future referred to by the press as the Oberhausen Group. This demand, which at the time was provocative for the public, for a turnaround in film policy and a new German feature film is now seen as the beginning of a new German film culture after the Second World War .

At the German Film Prize 1982, the Oberhausen group received the honorary award for outstanding services to German film .
