Oberhermersdorf was an independent municipality in Saxony in the area of today's Chemnitz district of Adelsberg .

Buildings of the earlier community were located where today Kirchwinkel with church and cemetery, Breitenlehn, Balzacweg and the section of Adelsbergstraße are located about 400 m above sea level. NHN to 500 u m. NHN .
history
Oberhermersdorf was first mentioned in a document around 1300. A prospecting permit for mining has been granted. In 1934, the village in the southeast of Chemnitz merged with the neighboring village of Niederhermersdorf to form the municipality of Adelsberg. Adelsberg was incorporated into Chemnitz in 1950.
Children's home on Adelsberg
In 1912, the Association for the Establishment and Preservation of People's Health Resorts in the Kingdom of Saxony bought an agricultural property at the foot of the Adelsberg and expanded it into a children's home. He called it the "Children's Colony on Adelsberg". Children from the age of five who were at risk of future disease because of tuberculous infection or because of a tuberculous environment were admitted there. Depending on their constitution and home circumstances, up to 100 children stayed for half a year to a full year, sometimes even shorter, for spa stays in this home with its own school. In order to achieve the goal of a stable physique, emphasis was placed on healthy nutrition, sufficient sleep, work and exercise outdoors as well as reclining cures in a reclining hall built for this purpose.
