Upper Hessian Mountain Association

The Oberhessischer Gebirgsverein (OHGV) (full name Oberhessischer Gebirgsverein (OHGV) - Hauptverein - Marburg / Lahn ) is an association of hiking enthusiasts in northern Central Hesse with its seat in Marburg . It is entered in the register of associations of the Marburg District Court (VR 590).

The association was founded on March 8, 1894 in Marburg as the Upper Hessian Tourist Association and today consists of 13 branch associations: Alsfeld, Bad Endbach, Biedenkopf, Dreihausen, Erdhausen, Gladenbach, Homberg, Holzhausen, Londorf, Marburg, Nordeck, Rauischholzhausen and Steinperf . Originally an all-male club, membership has also been open to women since World War II. In 2016 around 1,600 people were members of the OHGV.

The aim of the association is to take care of marked hiking trails , the network of trails is around 2100 kilometers long. He also offers public hikes. The association is recognized as a nature conservation association in accordance with Section 59 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act , from which nature and environmental protection are derived as a goal.
