An overhead line switch , also called overhead line disconnector (OTS) or mast disconnector (MTS), is an electrical load break switch which is used to section or release the voltage on overhead lines in electric railways . It is usually located in the entrance area of train stations and is needed, for example, during construction work to switch off the overhead line voltage.

There are mechanical lever switches or automated switchgear that can be controlled locally, in a dispatcher or via a connection to a remote control system.
