Wiebke Esdar (born February 11, 1984 in Bielefeld ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was elected in the Bundestag constituency of Bielefeld - Gütersloh II for the 2017 Bundestag election as a direct candidate in the Bundestag , in which she is represented in the left wing of the SPD parliamentary group .

Life

Wiebke Esdar is married and was born in Bielefeld in 1984. In 2003 she completed the Abitur at the Helmholtz Gymnasium. She then studied at Bielefeld University from 2003 to 2010 . She completed her studies in psychology with a diploma, social sciences and history with a bachelor's degree. She then worked on the research project ConGo - Conflicting Goals @univiersities , after which she received a doctoral scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation and a position at the chair for educational psychology. In 2015 she did her doctorate on the subject of “A quantitative and qualitative study of conflicting goals and teaching motivation among young academics at German universities”. From 2015 to 2017 she headed the HeLGA project - heterogeneity-oriented teaching - conditions for success and requirements .

politics

In 2005 Esdar joined the SPD. As a member of the Juso university group, she was active as a representative in various university groups. In 2011 she took over the office of chairwoman of the Bielefeld Jusos , which she held until 2014. From 2014 to 2017 she was a directly elected Bielefeld council member for the constituency of Sudbrack . There she was youth policy spokeswoman for the SPD council group and a member of the finance and personnel committee. She has been chairwoman of the SPD Bielefeld since March 2016.

After she retired in September 2017 as a directly elected member of the Bundestag, Esdar was at the SPD party congress in December 2017 the SPD party executive voted and confirmed in December 2019 in this office.

In the Bundestag she is a full member of the Education and Research Committee and, since July 2018, an additional full member of the Finance Committee. She is also a deputy member of the sports committee and the civic engagement subcommittee. She also belongs to the leadership group of the parliamentary left.

Esdar has been chairing the SPD's Science Forum since July 2018. Since February 2019 she has also been a member of the SPD history forum.

Memberships

Esdar has been involved in various functions and as a competitive swimmer in the 1st Bielefeld Swimming Club 02 since 1986. From 2014 to 2019 she was on the supervisory boards of moBiel GmbH and BITel Gesellschaft für Telekommunikation mbH , and since 2019 on the supervisory boards of Stadtwerke Bielefeld and Stadtwerke Gütersloh . She is a member of IG Metall and the education and science union , where she has been working for several years in the project group “Paths to the dream job science” at the federal level. She is a co-initiator and spokesperson for the Bielefeld Alliance against the Right. Since 2010 she has been a member of the board of trustees of the Bielefeld University Society. She is also a member of the Society for University Research .
