Dagmar Schmidt (born March 13, 1973 in Gießen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Dagmar Schmidt , who comes from a political family - her parents are in the SPD, her sister is involved in the Pirate Party Germany - grew up in Pohlheim - Hausen in Hesse . As a student, she took piano and three other instruments. After graduating from the Liebig School in Giessen , she studied history at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

This was followed by a first time as a member of parliament and academic consultant and then employed as a parliamentary consultant for economics, transport and regional development for the SPD parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament .

She has a son and lives in Wetzlar - Dutenhofen .

Dagmar Schmidt became a member of the SPD at the age of 16. Here she was engaged full-time but mostly on a voluntary basis ( lawyers , university politics and work at the various levels of the SPD). As a member of the local advisory board in Gießen - Kleinlinden , where she lived at the time, as well as the district council of the district of Gießen , she gained experience in local politics and was primarily involved in social issues.

In 2009 she ran for the first time for the SPD in the Lahn-Dill constituency for the Bundestag. In the federal election 2013 she ran in the constituency of Lahn-Dill and in 6th place on the Hessian state list of the SPD. She was able to enter the Bundestag via the state list , to which she has been a member since September 22, 2013. There she is a member of the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs , as well as a deputy member of the Petitions Committee of the German Bundestag and the Foreign Affairs Committee . She is also the chair of the Sino-German parliamentary group .

Schmidt has been a member of the SPD's executive committee since 2013.
