Oboe da caccia
The oboe caccia [ɔːbo.e as kattʃa] (plural Oboi caccia ) or Jagdoboe is a woodwind instrument and a deeper subspecies of Baroque in alto. The oboe da caccia is tuned in F, so it sounds a perfect fifth lower than the oboe .
It goes back to the Leipzig woodwind instrument maker Johann Eichentopf . The two daccia instruments he received (in the museums in Stockholm and Copenhagen) are no longer playable. The oboe da caccia is curved, covered with leather and has a brass lintel painted black inside (in the case of the oak pot), similar to the hunting horn ( corno da caccia ), which is where the da caccia part of the name comes from.
The oboe da caccia is used in the passions , some cantatas and in the Christmas oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach . Other composers for the oboe da caccia are Johann Friedrich Fasch , Johann Christoph Graupner and Giovanni Battista Ferrandini . It was later developed into the cor anglais horn , which today is often used as a replacement for the less common oboe da caccia.
