Obscurant is a Finnish death metal band from Jyväskylä that was formed in 2000.

history

The band was originally formed in late 2000 as a solo project by guitarist and singer Mynni Luukkainen. A short time later, however, other members came to the band, which completed the line-up. In the fall of 2001, the band reached a contract with Woodcut Records and began work on their debut album. The recordings for this took place in the Sundi-Coop Studio in March and April 2002. It took a total of two weeks to record and mix the songs. The album Lifeform: Dead was released that same year.

At the end of 2003 Honkonen left the band, so that Luukkainen took over the bass for the second album. The recordings for this took place in August 2004. After two and a half weeks, the album First Degree Suicide was finished. In winter 2005 Viljanen joined the band as a bass player. After the album was released, gigs all over Finland followed. In the summer of 2006, Järvinen and Kaakkolahti left the band. A few months later, Rautio joined the line-up as the new guitarist. Pakkanen joined the group in spring 2007 as the new drummer.

style

The band plays a mix of Doom and Death Metal, comparing the music with the works of Rapture .
