Jussi Tarvainen (born May 31, 1976 in Lahti ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with LeKi in Mestis .
Career
Jussi Tarvainen began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of KalPa Kuopio , for whose professional team he was active in the SM-liiga from 1993 to 1997 . The winger then played for league rivals JYP Jyväskylä for two years before being under contract with Tappara Tampere from 1999 to 2003 . With Tappara he failed in 2001 and 2002 only in the playoff finals before he and his team were Finnish champions in the third attempt in the 2002/03 season . He was also successful in his time at Tappara and received the Jari Kurri trophy in 2001 as the best player in the SM liiga playoffs. In the same year he was also elected to the All-Star Team of the SM-liiga. In 2001 and 2003 he was also the top scorer in the SM liiga playoffs.
From 2003 to 2006 Tarvainen played for Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien . The 2006/07 season he started at EHC Basel in the Swiss National League A and finished it with the Malmö Redhawks in the Elitserien, but with Malmö he had to accept relegation to the second Swedish division, HockeyAllsvenskan . Therefore, he joined the Elitserien participant Luleå HF for the following season . However, he ended the season at EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league . For Salzburg he prepared two goals in seven main round games.
For the 2008/09 season , the right-handed shooter returned to his Finnish homeland, where he ran up for SaiPa Lappeenranta in the SM-liiga. However, he spent the playoffs at KLH Chomutov in the first division , the second Czech division. In the 2009/10 season he joined the Austrian second division club EC Dornbirn , for whom he scored 82 scorer points in a total of 43 games, including 31 goals, and with which he became national league champion . In the 2010/11 season he played two games for LeKi in the Mestis . Then he ended his career.
International
For Finland , Tarvainen took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1993 and 1994 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 1994 , 1995 and 1996 . In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2003 and 2006 .
