The Observatoire de Toulouse is an observatory in Toulouse , France . It was founded in 1733 by l'Académie des Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres de Toulouse and rebuilt in 1841 in the Jolimont district. The facility is still called the Observatoire de Jolimont today , and in 1875 it was equipped with one of the largest telescopes at the time, an 83 cm reflector telescope . From 1908 onwards, astronomical observations were increasingly outsourced to the Pic du Midi de Bigorre due to the better visibility and completely abandoned in Toulouse in 1970. The observatory moved again in 1981 to new buildings on the campus of the Paul Sabatier University in the Rangueil district and has since been combined with other facilities under the name of Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées . The Jolimont facility has been managed by the Société d'Astronomie Populaire de Toulouse since 1984 .

Directors included Félix Tisserand from 1873 to 1878 and Benjamin Baillaud from 1879 to 1908.
