The Oceanside Pier is a wooden pier in the US city ​​of Oceanside in San Diego County in southern California . With a length of 596 meters, it is the longest wooden pier on the US west coast .

history

The pier was built in 1888 on what is now Wisconsin Avenue . The original pier was destroyed in a strong storm in the winter of 1890, but was rebuilt in 1893 on Pier View Way . On the promenade section of the pier, the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater was built in 1919 with a capacity of up to 2500 spectators. The pier in its current form cost around 5 million US dollars (4.7 million euros) and had to be rebuilt five times after being destroyed several times. It has existed in its current form since 1925, the wooden part since 1988.

Today the pier is especially popular with anglers .
