The Ochsensteiner Schloss , sometimes also called Schloss Pleisweiler , is a former moated castle in the local community of Pleisweiler-Oberhofen in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is a listed building .

location

The castle, which is surrounded by trees, is located in the western part of the settlement area of ​​the Pleisweiler district on Schlossstrasse , north of the Hirtenbach . It marked the western edge of the town before the development of new residential areas.

construction

The castle was built in the 15th century. It is an angular hipped roof building with a short north wing and a long east wing. The windows are stylistically assigned to the Renaissance . The corner tower on the south-west corner was added in 1605, the courtyard gate in 1823. Parallel to the east wing, there is a long farm building directly on Schlossstrasse.

history

The castle was once owned by the Klingenmünster monastery .
