Oclaro was an American company and one of the largest manufacturers of laser diodes and components as well as DWDM light wave components for 10G, 40G and 100G Ethernet .
Oclaro was founded in 1988 as Bookham Technology in the UK. In 2002, Marconis and Nortel's fiber optic divisions were taken over.
In September 2013, Oclaro Switzerland GmbH with its GaAs production was sold to II-VI Incorporated . In 2014, the business with surface emitters (VCSELs) and 980 nm pump lasers followed.
In December 2018, Oclaro was acquired by Lumentum Holdings Inc. and trading in Oclaro shares on NASDAQ was discontinued.
