The Oddsskarðsgöng are a disused road tunnel at Norðfjarðarvegur in the east of Iceland .
The single-lane tunnel with alternative bays is 626 meters long and connected Neskaupstaður with Eskifjörður and the rest of Iceland. It crosses under the Oddsskarð at an altitude of 632 m above sea level. It was Iceland's highest tunnel. Both tunnel portals have gates with which the tunnel can be closed in bad weather.
The tunnel was built from 1974 to 1977 and replaced the old (and only) road to Neskaupstaður via Oddsskarð from 1949, which was often closed in winter. Since this tunnel was not safe for winter either, it was replaced by the longer Norðfjarðargöng , which opened in 2017 . The future of Oddsskarðsgöng has not yet been decided.
