Odyssey in Fantasy Iceland ( Ingoldmells , Lincolnshire , UK ) is an inverted - steel coaster on the model Suspended Looping Coaster manufacturer's Vekoma that on 25 May 2002 as a Jubilee Odyssey was opened. It drove under this name until 2011-2013. It is the largest roller coaster of the model worldwide and was named after the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II . Originally the rink was supposed to be 81 m high, which would have made it the highest inverted roller coaster in the world, but since there were local height restrictions, it could only have been a maximum of 55 m high.
After the first year of operation, parts of the route were modified, including the large curve, the hammerhead element and the sidewinder . These have been set a little lower so that the train is not slowed down so hard.
The 891 m long route reaches a height of around 51 m and has a first drop of 43 m at 60 °. The train accelerates to around 101 km / h and it develops 4.8 g. In addition to a horseshoe , five inversions were installed: a 38 m high loop , a cobra roll , a sidewinder and a corkscrew .
Trains
Odyssey owns a train with ten cars. Two people (in a row) can be seated in each carriage. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system.
