Og ( Hebrew עוֹג) was an Amorite king named in the 5 books of Moses in Bashan , to whom the Israelites sent messengers on their arrival in the East Bank with the request to be allowed to travel through his country. Og refused to go through and went to fight them with all his people. However, he was beaten by the Israelites at Edreï (today's Dar'a in Syria ). The Israelites took the cities of the plateau, all of Gilead and all of Bashan as far as Salka and Edreï. The area was allocated to half the Manasseh tribe . In the Bible in 5 Mos 3,11  LUT Og is called the last of the giants , his iron bed was 9 cubits long and 4 cubits wide (4.05 × 1.80 m).
