Ogbomosho ( Yoruba : Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́) is a city in the state of Oyo in Nigeria with around 1,200,000 inhabitants (as of 2016). The metropolitan area of the city has a total population of over 1.3 million inhabitants.
history
The town is in the 17th century by the people of Yoruba founded. The beginning of the 19th century , the settlement expanded rapidly when they during the invasion of the people of the Fulani as a haven for the Yoruba served.

Major attractions in Ogbomosho include the great mosque and remains of the 17th century city walls.
economy
The city is an industrial and commercial center in an agricultural area. Among other things, cotton and tobacco are grown and food , textiles and shoes are produced.
