Oghamstone by Gowran

The Gowran Ogham Stone is in St Mary's Collegiate Church in Gowran ( Gabhrán in Irish ), south of the R 448 road, east of Kilkenny in east County Kilkenny in Ireland .

The ogham stone was discovered in the foundations of the choir of the old church in 1849 when it was being converted into a parish church, and now stands on a concrete plinth on the wall to the left of the altar in the choir . It consists of breccia , is 1.5 m high, 0.38 m wide and 0.3 m thick. He has three edges Oghamschrift , but the name on the right side was removed, was scored as a cross on the basis that the on the Oghamstein of Dromkeare in County Kerry equivalent. The inscription reads "MAQI ERACIAS MAQI DIMAQA MUCOI".

St. Mary's Church is a National Monument.
