University College Cork

The 27 ogham stones in University College Cork form the largest collection of ogham stones in Ireland . With the exception of one stone from County Waterford , all of them are from County Cork . It is located in the covered UCC's Stone Corridor on the north and west wings of the university building.

The collection also includes a millstone , a cross plate from the early Middle Ages, and a bowl stone about three to four thousand years old . Most of the stones were acquired in the last decades of the 19th century and were housed in the Royal Cork Institution from 1807 to 1861 . After their dissolution, the stones were transferred to what was then Queen's College Cork (today: University College Cork).
