Ohannes effort disyan
Hezârfen Ohannes Mühendisyan ( Armenian Յովհաննէս Միւհենտիսեան , born February 21, 1810 in Istanbul , † November 17, 1891 ibid) was an Ottoman printer of Armenian descent.
He was the son of the teacher Mühendis Kevork (1781-1831) of the shipyard school Mühendishane-i Bahr-i Hümâyun . Ohannes Mühendisyan received a musical education and devoted himself to printing from 1839. He headed the print shop of the Cemaran School ( Ermeni Cemaran Mektebi ) in Üsküdar . In 1843 he printed letters in italics in Çukur Çeşme on behalf of the Imperial Takvimhane-i Âmire . From 1844 he was in charge of printing securities and banknotes in Darphane-i Âmire . In 1856 Mühendisyan founded a printing company in Galata . He then printed valuable stamps in front of his house in Kadıköy , where a printing press was set up in the garden. Ohannes Mühendisyan was awarded the Mecidiye Order and the Sanayi-i-Nefise Medal by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II .
Ohannes Mühendisyan, who played a major role in the development of printing with the galvano stereotype and zinc printing in Turkey , was honored as "versatile" ( Hezârfen ) for his work in the arts and jewelry business .
