Okrug Kiev

The Okrug Kiev ( Ukrainian Київська округа / Russian Киевский округ ) was an administrative unit in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic that existed from March 7, 1923 to September 2, 1930 .

The okrug was initially part of the Kiev Governorate and, after its dissolution, the Kiev Oblast .

structure

The administrative center was the city of Kiev . During its existence, the structure and boundaries of the okrug changed several times. It initially consisted of 20 subordinate districts, from October 1, 1925 of 25 districts with a total of 559 communities.

population

The Okrug had a population of 1,591,000 in 1925 and 1,592,912 in the 1926 census. Of these, 48.59% were men and 51.41% women. The urban population of the Okrug was 591,705 (37.15%) and 1,001,207 (62.85%) of the population lived in rural areas.

The population at the 1926 census was made up as follows:

  • Ukrainians 77.9%
  • Russians 8.6%
  • Jews 10.1%
  • Poland 1.6%
