Ola Gjeilo (* 5. May 1978 in Skui , municipality Bærum in Fylke Akershus , Norway ) is a Norwegian pianist and composer . The name is pronounced roughly like Jeilu.

Life

After attending the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the Royal College of Music in London , Gjeilo attended the New York Juilliard School from 2001 . After this training as a composer, which he graduated with a diploma in 2006, he mainly wrote choral works, pieces for wind orchestra and piano music. Gjeilo lives in New York.
