Olaf Arndt

Olaf Arndt (born December 31, 1963 in Berlin ) is a former German racing cyclist who was active in the GDR , and junior world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He was a member of the TSC Berlin club when he celebrated the greatest success of his sporting career in 1981. At the UCI Junior World Championships in sprinting , he won the gold medal after finishing second behind Maic Malchow the year before . In the final he beat the Italian Rampazzo . In that year, as a junior, he was also able to win the Sprint Grand Prix of Budapest in the elite class . In 1982 he finished second at the Italian and Copenhagen Grand Prix, and finished fourth at the GDR Grand Prix. In the next few years he still had a few top places in sprint tournaments (about 3rd place in the Polish Grand Prix in 1984), but could no longer build on the great successes as a junior. In 1987 he ended his career.
