Olando Amoo

Olando Amoo (* in Accra , Ghana ) is a Hanoverian dancer and choreographer .

Artistic career

Olando Amoo began his career as a dancer at the age of 4 in his home country Ghana. Engagements as a model and actor followed just a few years later. In 1998 Olando came to Germany and opened his first dance studio in Hanover: “Olando's Dynamic Dance” (“ODD”). A second followed some time later in Austria, which he ran together with the singer Hannah in Innsbruck. In addition to his own engagements as a dancer, model and actor, Olando successfully took part in national and international dance competitions with his students during this time, choreographed dance and fashion shows as well as various music video clips. In August 2008, Olando expanded the studio to include an agency for the placement of dancers, models and singers. Both operated under the name "OLANDOs Dance Complex" in Hanover city center. In 2012 both areas were reorganized. Since then, Olando has been teaching dance-loving children, youth and adult groups in the "Dynamic Dance Studios - international dance school Hanover", is involved in school and social projects and trains budding professional dancers. In his agency, 2D-Management, he is active as creative director.

Career

With the establishment of his first dance studio and various engagements as a dancer and choreographer, Olando Amoo initially concentrated on his dance career before he also used his musical talent as a singer, music and song composer.

Dance career

Shaped by his African roots, various dance styles and multicultural influences, Olando Amoo developed his own style in his youth, which he called "Dynamic Dance", and in which he primarily dealt with the inner body movement, the expression and physical implementation of different rhythms . For creations such as B. the Afropop he combined elements of traditional dances and new styles such as street dance and hip hop. As a background dancer, Olando was on stage with artists such as Paul McCartney, the No Angels and Mehrzad Marashi. He danced in music videos a. a. for Aquagen, Laava, Alex Butcher, Mark 'Oh, Royal Gigolos and Velile. At the Expo 2000 he was seen as a dancer in the “Future of Work” project. In Belgium and the Netherlands he played in the musical "Peter and the Wolf" (In the Wings). For the motion capture film “Back to Gaya” Olando was the motion actor for the character “Zeck” in front of the camera and Olando was engaged as a choreographer for the Sat.1 TV show “You Can Dance”.

Music career

Olando Amoo's entire childhood, youth and career was always shaped by danceable music. Olando dealt intensively with the different styles, with rhythms and with the different musical levels during his artistic career. For his choreographies, he reassembled individual pieces, composed his own beats and also regularly brought in his voice as an effective background. In 2012 he started recording completely his own pieces. In July 2014 his first single "Grind it" was finally released with the accompanying music video clip in which Olando can be heard together with his colleague David A. Tobin.
