Oleg Nikolajewitsch Yermakow ( Russian Олег Николаевич Ермаков ; born February 20, 1961 in Smolensk ) is a Russian writer.

Life

After attending secondary school in his birthplace, Yermakov worked as a forest ranger on Baikal and Lake Teletsk from 1978 to 1979 . 1979–1981 he wrote there for the provincial newspaper Красное Знамя (Red Flag). 1981-1983 Yermakov served as a soldier in the artillery of the Soviet Army in the Afghanistan war . Returning to his hometown in 1983, he wrote for newspapers until 1985. 1985–1989 he was one of the guards and employees of the Smolensk Hydrometeorological Center.

In 1989 Yermakov became a member of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR . He has been a member of the Russian Writers' Union since 1992 and a member of the Russian PEN since 1995. Yermakov has been a member of the jury of the O. Henry Prize since 2011 .
