Oleh Stanislawowytsch Kyrjuchin ( Ukrainian Олег Станіславович Кирюхін ; English transcription: Oleh Stanislavovych Kiryukhin ; born February 25, 1975 in Mariupol ) is a Ukrainian boxer. Kyrjuchin was European champion in 1993 , silver medalist at the European Championships in 1996 and bronze medalist at the European Championships in 1998 and the 1996 Olympic Games .

Career

amateur

1993 Kyrjuchin won the light flyweight , the European Championships in Thessaloniki . At the 1995 World Championships , however, he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Rafael Lozano , Spain (8: 4). The following year Kyrjuchin reached the final of the European Championships again , but lost it to the Bulgarian Daniel Petrow . In the same year he started at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . After victories over Abdul Rashid Qambrani, Pakistan (17: 3), Beibis Mendoza, Colombia (18: 6), and Albert Guardado, USA (19:14), he reached the semi-finals, in which he again joined the eventual Olympic champion Daniel Petrow 17: 8 points.

In 1998 Kyrjuchin won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Minsk . In the preliminary round he was able to narrowly beat Petrow this time and he also won his quarter-final fight against Jérôme Thomas , France (9: 2), but in the semifinals he was eliminated against Sergei Kasakow , Russia (7: 5). Kyrjuchin played his last international championship in 1999 at the World Championships in Houston . Here, however, was eliminated in the round of 16 against Dilshod Yuldashev, Uzbekistan (9: 0).

In 2000 Kyrjuchin turned pro, but had little success. After six fights, he ended his career.
