Rafael Lozano Muñoz (born January 25, 1970 in Córdoba ) is a Spanish professional boxer .

amateur

During his amateur days, Muñoz took part in three Olympic Games between 1992 and 2000 . In 1992 in Barcelona he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against the later gold medalist Rogelio Marcelo . In 1996 he won the bronze medal in Atlanta after losing to Roel Velasco in the semifinals . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he made it to the final of the Olympic boxing tournament, which he lost to Brahim Asloum from France.

In addition, Lozano won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in 1993 and third place at the European Championships in Vejle in 1996 .

professional

In 2001, Muñoz played his first of 28 professional fights. In June 2004 he lost in a fight for the Spanish flyweight title against Lahcene Zemmouri by a 1: 2 point decision. In December 2006, his next attempt to win a title was followed by another defeat when he lost in the fight for the WBA intercontinental flyweight title against Brahim Asloum by a technical knockout in the fourth round.

Lozano won another seven fights, but could not win any other title apart from the Spanish championship.
