Oleh Borysovyč Rybatschuk ( Ukrainian Олег Борисович Рибачук , scientific transliteration Oleh Borysovyč Rybačuk ; born April 22, 1958 in Pohrebyshche , Vinnytsia Oblast ) is a Ukrainian politician .

Life

Rybachuk studied Romance studies, German studies and economics at the University of Kiev and worked for the company Zarubezhneftestroja ( Зарубежнефтестроя ) in India for five years during the final phase of the Soviet Union .

On his return he worked first for a Kiev credit bank ( Київбіржбанк ) and then as director of the international relations department at the National Bank of Ukraine . During that time, he participated in an eight-month postgraduate program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC .

From 1999 to 2001 Rybachuk headed the government office under Prime Minister Yushchenko. After his departure from office Rybachuk went as vice director of the Black Sea Bank for Trade and Development to Thessaloniki . In 2002 he returned to Ukraine and was instrumental in founding the parliamentary electoral alliance Nascha Ukrajina ( Our Ukraine ) and the nomination of Viktor Yushchenko as a presidential candidate. In 2004 Rybachuk became Yushchenko's campaign manager.

With his good English language skills, Rybachuk was one of the main contacts for journalists and foreign guests of Viktor Yushchenko. Before the inauguration of the new president, he traveled to Poland in January 2005 at the invitation of Prime Minister Marek Belka and had an hour-long meeting with President Kwaśniewski .

In February 2005 Rybachuk was as Minister for European Integration at the rank of deputy prime minister in the government Tymoshenko from Parliament confirmed. After the surprise dismissal of the Tymoshenko government in September of the same year, President Yushchenko appointed him State Secretary in the presidential administration , replacing Oleksandr Zinchenko, who had previously resigned .

He complained that within months the President looked like an exchange and lacked openness. Regarding the further course of Ukraine's history, he said: "President Yanukovych traded national security for cheap gas."

On March 11, 2014, he spoke of the great danger of war: "They (the Russians) will not stop at Crimea." The question arises for the whole world of what guarantees and international treaties are still worth. "It looks like the country is programmed for self-destruction. I'm talking about Russia."
