Olexandr Zinchenko Olexijowytsch ( Ukrainian Олександр Олексійович Зінченко * 16th April 1957 in Slavuta , Khmelnytskyi Oblast ; † 9. June 2010 in Kiev ) was a Ukrainian politician and Vice President of the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada . From January to September 2005 he was State Secretary to President Yushchenko .

Career

Zintschenko studied physics at the University of Czernowitz from 1974 to 1979 and then worked as an aspirant and physics lecturer at the chair for theoretical physics . Since 1983 he was increasingly active in student Komsomol and youth organizations; 1988 to 1991 in the propaganda and agitation department of the Central Committee of the Leninist-Communist Youth Organization of Ukraine ( Ленинский Коммунистический Союз Молодёжи Украины ).

From 1989 to 1992 he studied political science at the Moscow Academy of Social Sciences and was also the liaison between the Ukrainian youth organization and the Russian partner organizations.

Since December 1992 Zinchenko held managerial positions in several companies; 1995 to 2002 in the Ukrainian independent television company ( Українська незалежна ТВ-корпорація ), which operates , among other things, the television station INTER . From 1996 to 2003 he was a member of the United Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (SDPU (o)), since 1998 as first vice-chairman. For this party he was from 1998 to 2002 as a member of the Verkhovna Rada (list number 7) and again in 2003 (list number 3) . He was mainly active in parliamentary committees on issues of the mass media and freedom of information and speech and was parliamentary group leader of his party in 1998 and 2002/03.

In the 2004 presidential campaign, Zhenchenko was Viktor Yushchenko's campaign manager; on September 5, 2005, he suddenly resigned from his post as State Secretary of the President, in connection with allegations of corruption against the Tymoshenko government .

From 2009 to 2010 Zhenchenko was Director General of the State Space Agency of Ukraine .

Zinchenko was married and had two grown daughters. He died of blood cancer at the age of 53 in Kiev and was buried in the Baikowe cemetery in Kiev.
