Oleksandr Irvanets

Oleksandr Irwanez ( Ukrainian Олександр Ірванець , born January 24, 1961 in Lemberg ) is a Ukrainian poet , writer and dramaturge .

Career

Irvanets attended primary school in Rivne . After graduating from high school, he studied at the Pedagogical University in Dubno until 1980 and at the Maxim Gorki Literature Institute in Moscow until 1989 .

Irvanets founded a Ukrainian literary association, Bu-Ba-Bu, in Lviv on April 17, 1985 . Jurij Andruchowytsch and Viktor Neborak also belonged to the group .

In 1987 he published his collection of poems, Wohnyschtsche na doschtschi ( Campfire in the Rain), which showed his talent for pastiche and parody . The next collection in 1991 was called Tin 'welykoho klasika (shadow of a great classic). His works have been translated into many languages.

In the 1990s he created the plays Short Play About Treason for an Actress (1993), The Easter Tram (1994) and Recording (1995).

He has lived in Irpin near Kiev since 1990 .

In 1995 he received a scholarship from the Akademie Schloss Solitude , and from 2005–2006 the Fulbright program . In 2000 and 2002 he was a member of the jury of the Bonn Biennale.

In 2011, on the 50th birthday and 30th anniversary of his debut, an anthology of his works Satirikon - XXI .

After many years, a new work by the author appeared for the first time in 2017, the anti-anti-utopian novel Kharkiv 1938.
